Biography

Martyn Swain is an Emmy and FIPA D’Or Award-Winning Composer, and Sound Designer working from his own Digital ‘Sound to Picture’ studio in Central London. As a touring musician, he worked with the Waterboys, World Party, Aimee Mann, Toni Childs, Julian Lennon, Sinead O’Connor, Holly Johnson and David Bowie, amongst others.

He also studied at the Guildhall School of Music, and moved from “hired hand” to prolific singer and songwriter, writing with Robert Plant, Aimee Mann, Toni Childs, and Julian Lennon, as well as fronting his unique and critically acclaimed band Secret Circus, which released 2 EPs.

Martyn then focused on a career as a Composer and Producer, working on numerous commissions for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 in the UK. He has already won two Emmy Awards for his contributions to BBC 2’s Timewatch programmes, “Allied to the Mafia”, and “The True Story of the Roman Arena”, as well as the FIPA D’Or, a prestigious global award for ‘Best Original Score for a TV Drama’. As an acknowledgement of his progress in the field of TV music, Martyn was recently invited onto the BAFTA panel of Judges for ‘Best Original Music’, and was also a valuable member of the Media Executive of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters. Martyn’s immense enthusiasm for music remains undiminished and he sees his best years looming ahead of him. With a wealth of experience and a personal contact list including most of the best musicians in Britain, who could doubt him!
