His live show is its own experience by many standards, and an homage to the artists whose work has taught him. RYAN is a natural crooner who also happens to be a powerhouse vocalist, an R&B artist with roots in the church -- his sound is fresh and familiar, original and derivative; home in chaos, making space for healing and imagination. At this career defining inflection point, RYAN is building a legacy based on great songs and live performances where he's not seeking self serving stardom even if he is aiming for big waves of success: there's always something in his music and his show that belongs to people, that's the magic.
Influenced by American life, all genres of popular music and the uncertainty of an ever evolving Information Age, RYAN is seeking to do what artists always do and what they've always done: making music for our times about our times that enriches our times. How do you spell the word love?
A sought after singer and vocal coach, a former Hollywood finalist on American Idol -- he's collaborated on live vocal production with artists like Steve Lacy and India Carney; after studying in the Young Musicians Program at UC Berkeley as a preteen, he won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music at age 16. The years of using his talents in all kinds of settings and absorbing the common humanity in these affairs has fused naturally into his music as a reflection and inspiration of the human spirit -- being an artist is the path and the quality of the work is always king.
