Vagabond Empire is a new one-man band/solo project born from the ashes of Three Times Bad, a genre-elastic Americana string band that regularly played many of SF's top music venues (Great American Music Hall, Slim's, Bottom of the Hill, Cafe du Nord) along with regional festivals (Ink n Iron, Humboldt Hills Hoedown, Shelby Ash's Hillbilly Robot, etc.).
AmericanRoots radio's Mike Morrison gave 3xbad's American Sojourn "Album of the Week" honors and said it was "a brilliant conceived album... huge originality [and] mastery of their instruments and arrangements."
Vagabond Empire takes the genre-inclusive approach of its predecessor to the next level by reimagining the Great American Songbook for the 21st century. The wide-ranging set list of originals and revamped classics digs deep into 100+ years of American roots music traditions, from Tin Pan Alley and early jazz, to Gypsy swing, funky folk, lively blues, rockin' bluegrass, honkytonk, soulful rock, and more. Shows can be tailored to meet the needs of a variety of venues.
After the Plague, a debut album of original compositions, will be released on Oct. 23, 2024. See more info: thevagabondempire.com
