Georgina Saldaña Wonchee is a singer and songwriter working at the intersection of Latin American roots, contemporary tropical music, and socially engaged storytelling. She is the lead vocalist and co-founder of La China Sonidera (2010–present), a project born in Oaxaca that reimagines traditional rhythms through a modern, multicultural lens.
She has written approximately fifteen original songs exploring migration, gender equity, identity, and collective memory. Her work balances celebration and consciousness, crafting music that moves between dance floor energy and poetic reflection.
With La China Sonidera, she has released three albums — La China Sonidera, Interranchonal, and Presente (produced by Andrés Levin) — and has performed at the Cervantino International Festival, Expo 2020 Dubai, and venues across Mexico, Europe, and the United States.
Trained as a mezzo-soprano, she has also performed as a soloist with the Oaxaca Symphony Orchestra and in international choral festivals.
Her sound bridges tradition and experimentation, rhythm and narrative.
