  • About
  • We are an acoustic guitar duo that provide music for any occasion. Our styles range from the romantic, laid back and watch the sunset or grab a bottle of wine and dance on the table. We play as a duo or a duo augmented with tracks. We can expand to a full band if your event calls for that. Our full band Incendio is a very upbeat world group that integrates Latin, Middle Eastern, Celtic and Jazz with modern beats.

Biography

Liza Carbé is a professional bassist, guitarist, composer, producer and vocalist and JP Durand is a guitarist, producer, programmer and composer. They are co-foundering members of their group Incendio, along with Jim Stubblefield. Incendio is a genre-bending instrumental group. The group has assembled a collection of 11 CD’s and two DVD’s, which are available internationally.

In the little spare time outside of Incendio, Liza and JP have concentrated on a variety of original and classic tunes done in their two-guitar style. Their most recent disc, "A Bridge Between,” is recorded live in the studio, capturing the fiery spontaneity of their duo concerts. The duo also writes music for tv and film which can be heard in everything from Bridesmaids to Law and Order. Their music is prominent on Pandora, Spotify as well as other radio stations. They often perform with Ballet Fantastique at The Hult Center in Eugene, OR who have choreographed several productions to their music.

Liza brings a wealth of musical knowledge and guitar discipline to the duo. A guitarist from the age of 9, Liza went on to obtain her degree in classical guitar from California State University, Northridge. She soon served two masters - classical guitar and voice by day, and rock and roll bass by night. She traveled the world, playing with Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac, in the rock group Vixen as well as backing up former Santana singer Leon Patillo.

JP comes from the world of rock and the blues. Raised in West Los Angeles, JP missed British synth pop completely, opting instead for the rawness of punk rock as well as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Johnson. However, JP is also of Peruvian descent, so artists like Trio Los Panchos, Los Morochucos, and even Julio Iglesias sat side by side with more rock-oriented music. It is this wealth of South American traditional and pop music that JP came to fuse with rock and jazz through Incendio, a vein he continues to mine in his guitar duo explorations with Liza.  He also has a degree in economics from UC Berkeley.

The two guitarists have bridged the worlds of classical and blues guitar for well over 20 years now. A married couple, a professional partnership, and, in the end, two people who very much love to play their guitars.

Along with their music career JP and Liza have been teaching workshops in schools, festivals, and prisons for over twenty years. They bring their knowledge of music and the music business into schools to help inspire students to consider an artistic life, strive to be the best they can, and broaden their cultural horizons. Liza taught at City Hearts for over five years working with high risk and inner city kids. They have both been working with the prisons at Ironwood, Chuckawalla, CDCR and Chino over the past two years. They believe that part of sharing their passion for music, art, and life helps empower others to find their passion and their calling.
