Sandra Love & The Reason was formed in 2017 by Sandra Love, after touring nationally for a year with the Dirty Bourbon River Show, she was ready to make music of her own. Her powerful voice sings about the joys and heartaches of living in New Orleans. The band is comprised of Felipe Antonio on guitar, Max Valentino on Bass, Bob Danos on Drums and Sandra Love on Vocals. No two songs sound alike - making this band refreshingly unique. Some of their biggest influences include Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, and Charles Bradley. Miss Love believes in letting the songs write themselves; never worrying about staying in the genre boundaries. During the band’s existence in the Crescent City, highlights include being the opening act for the return of Tipitina’s Homegrown Night in September of 2019. The band killed their performance for a packed house, and later were asked to open for Big Sam’s Funky Nation the following spring of 2020 for their St Patrick’s Day show. Later that year they had the honor of opening for The New Orleans Suspects at the Trash Pile, and again early 2021 for George Porter Jr. and The Runnin Pardners. Two online heavy weights booked SLATR in summer 2022 for Escape From the Secret Lab, and Live from the Pinchurch. Their Sophomore album Dreamwalker was released in May of 2022, with the help of David Farrell ( 5 time Grammy Award Winning) and Leslie Blackshear Smith (living legend, vocalist and daughter of famed photographer, Michael Smith). MusiCat, through the help of Crescent City Sounds, and the New Orleans Public Library have already accepted Dreamwalker in their first wave of local artists for their music collection. Fete Du Void will be the band’s first Festival this October 2022. Music is the Reason this band gets out of bed every day; it keeps them tuned to the keys of life.
