Biography

We are a three piece rock band that hails from Portsmouth, England. Raz Popa on Drums, Kris Zalitis on Bass and Jay Groovara on guitar/vocals. Jay writes all the material and used to run a art gallery where he met Kris. Becoming fast friends, the two collaborated on gigs and were eventually joined by Raz. The band has a penchant for loud trashy rock and is notable for creating new songs or improvisations at gigs, based on audience requests. The name is a spin on Argentine Marxist revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara, to which Jay is inspired by.

Worst Band in Brighton Award
15th July 1999
We played the Gloucester Arms in Brighton years ago. And immediately fell out with the promoters because we had booked a "tour of Brighton" that month, playing as many venues as possible. So they were being dicks about that. They slated our performance because we didn't bring hundreds of people and promised we would never play in Brighton ever again. We ended up playing gigs there for several years.
Worst Band in Bognor Regis Award
12th August 2002
So one summer, we played the Bognor Rocks music Festival by the Sea. It was so disorganised that the drum kit had no slip mat and began sliding around the stage. The local news paper described our sound as 'Eclectic'.
Worst Band in Clanfield Award
22nd May 8402
So our manager at the time, booked us this gig at a family pub somewhere in the middle of Clanfield, which is basically a million miles from nowhere in the countryside. To make matters worse, it was totally the wrong audience. There we were on stage, thrashing out our material to a bunch of middle class families with kids, with as much in common musically with us as bricks have with custard. Then suddenly the landlord staggers up to us on stage and tells us to stop playing and says "Never mind all that shit. Play something we all know." It was a soul destroying moment, because we had spent weeks and weeks practicing only to be met my this asshole. So we ended up playing "About a Girl" by Nirvana. Which they didn't know either but at least it kept them from kicking us out. The manager of course, kept all the money.
